It is the replacement or expansion of conventional distribution substations by Gas Insulated Shielded Compact Substations (GIS).
A new GIS substation may become an option to be evaluated. This technology allows the reduction of the area required for the arrangements, minimizes the emission of noise, reduces the visual impacts, and provides the modernization compatible with the current needs of the operating teams of the electrical system.
In addition, because it requires a smaller area for deployment, it allows the negotiation of the terrain of the existing substation, or part of it, resulting in financial resources to leverage the investment in the new substation. GIS substations also have a lower maintenance cost and greater reliability, allowing greater availability of equipment for the electrical system.
